Scoring 90+ in CBSE Class 10 Science is absolutely achievable — and not only for "toppers". After teaching this syllabus for over fifteen years, I can tell you the students who cross 90 rarely study more than everyone else. They study smarter. Here is how.

1. Make NCERT your foundation, not your afterthought

The CBSE board sets its paper from the NCERT textbook. Every line, every diagram, every in-text question matters. Before touching any reference book, a student should be able to answer every NCERT exercise and example confidently.

Read each chapter actively — underline definitions, note the reasons behind reactions, and write short answers in your own words.

2. Treat the three sciences differently

  • Physics is about understanding and numericals. Practise every formula until you can derive and apply it. Electricity and Light reward steady problem-solving.
  • Chemistry rewards clarity on reactions, equations, and reasoning. Learn why a reaction happens, not just the products.
  • Biology rewards precise terminology and clean diagrams. Life Processes and Control & Coordination carry serious weight.

3. Diagrams win easy marks

A well-labelled diagram of the human heart, nephron, or a ray diagram can earn full marks quickly. Practise the important diagrams until you can draw and label them from memory. Many students lose these marks simply by not practising them.

4. Master the marking scheme

A three-mark answer needs three clear points, not one long paragraph. Study CBSE marking schemes so you know exactly how answers are rewarded. Write in points, use headings where useful, and keep answers to the length the marks demand.

5. Revise with previous years and sample papers

In the final two months, solve previous years' board papers and CBSE sample papers under timed, exam-like conditions. This trains speed, exposes weak chapters, and removes exam-day surprises. Review every mistake — that review is where the real improvement happens.

6. Keep a "silly mistakes" log

Most students lose 5-10 marks to avoidable errors: missing units, unbalanced equations, skipped diagram labels. Keep a small log of these mistakes and read it before every test. It works.

A sample final-stretch routine

  • Finish NCERT thoroughly (all chapters, all exercises)
  • One full sample paper per week, reviewed carefully
  • Daily diagram and formula practice, 20 minutes
  • Weekly self-test on the weakest chapter

Where a small batch helps

Every point above is easier with a teacher who can check your diagrams, review your test, and catch your recurring mistakes. That personal attention is exactly what a batch of 2-5 students at Abha Science Classes is built for.
